What is invisible theatre?
Invisible theatre involves hiding the use of actors from the participants. This is particularly useful for customer service training where, for example, the person greeting the participants on arrival can be an actor in-character who provides awful service. The feelings invoked by being treated badly then inform the session about providing top class service for others.
Invisible theatre is extremely powerful because it allows participants to take part in customer service training without even realising. It is also useful in health and safety training. On arrival at the training event an actor could be present, flouting health and safety rules. The facilitator can then highlight how the delegates walked past the actor and did not challenge their behaviour.
