LBC Radio Question the Worth of Drama Based Training

When it was revealed that the BBC had spent £1 million on drama based training LBC Breakfast Show presenter Nick Ferrari wanted to know whether it was worth it. In an interview, Dramatic Solutions Director Colin Rote explained some of the benefits.
When asked about what actors could teach to BBC managers Colin Rote explained that the actors would be used to provide skills practice for them, providing an opportunity not unlike a flight simulator for pilots. Just as pilots can practice emergency situations on the simulator without risk of anyone actually being harmed, so the use of skills Business Actors in a role-play can give managers the opportunity to practice handling difficult conversations in their workplace.
At a time when the BBC was implementing its move from London to Salford, managers would have been faced with many difficult conversations about jobs being moved. Drama based training would have helped them to cope and to deliver difficult messages in a way that encouraged a positive outcome for all.
It must have been convincing. After engaging in a role-play with Colin, on air, Nick Ferrari signed off by saying "You're very skilled at what you do."
